Engine Power
“The personal connection was the deal sealer for us.”

Business Basics
Engine Power is a family owned company and trusted regional distributor of off-road engines across 19 states. They represent premier manufacturers like Kubota and Honda.
We spoke with Engine Power’s second-generation CEO, Brian Paulin, to hear his experience after switching to Johnson Financial Group for his commercial and private banking needs.
Banking Story
“At my prior institution, we were a small fish in a super big pond. It was all about business. We were looking for something more personal, both on the commercial and private banking sides, and you matched exactly what we were looking for,” says Brian.
The seamless, holistic integration of both Engine Power’s and Brian’s personal needs has been key to the success of this partnership. Brian explains, “As an owner of a privately held company, there is no distinction between the commercial aspects of our company and my family’s private banking needs. Our commercial business is the biggest asset that we have within the private side of our world, so we need some connection there.”
The personalized support from the team, led by SVP Commercial Banking, John Chidester and SVP Private Client Banking, Jackie Ruppel, has been particularly noteworthy: “We’re working with a small group of people that have taken the time to really learn about us, asking us excellent questions and making us think deeper about what we want to accomplish, as well as beginning to develop a plan from those conversations. We’re now thinking about what we want to accomplish in the next 10 to 20 years as a family.”
He further explains, “Jackie, John and the team have met one-on-one with my son and at my prior institution, it was a call-in number for most of our private banking needs. The personal connection that we’ve been able to develop in just a short time with the team is going to really help us when we move on to the execution phase of our plan.”
Brian is excited about the partnership’s potential as he looks towards the future. He shares, “I’m really happy with the process so far and I’m excited to see where it goes from here.”
