As warm weather approaches, the excitement of opening seasonal homes, cottages, and cabins begins. Keep in mind it's important to do a thorough interior and exterior inspection of your home and property to check for potential damage caused by severe winter weather. Taking the time to inspect and repair minor damages can prevent expensive repairs and provide you with peace of mind to enjoy the summer season.

  1. Roof Inspection – Prevent water leaks by inspecting for any damaged or missing shingles or nails.
  2. Clean Gutters – To prevent overflow of water, clean and rinse gutters to remove debris. You should also properly align downspouts.
  3. Test Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors – Replace batteries and test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are working properly.
  4. Clean Heat Vents – Vacuum heat vents and registers to reduce dust and debris.
