Concerns over slower global economic growth due to the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) have led to a precipitous decline in stock prices and bond yields. Many are relating the stock market decline to the potential severity of an economic slowdown, concluding that a global recession is in the offing.

While it may be too early to make that assumption, Johnson Financial Group’s Brian Andrew, Ron Alberts and Jason Herried discuss our current economic state, including the following considerations:

  • Stock volatility may remain high
  • Interest rates are making record lows
  • Economic growth expected to be slower in Q1 and Q2
  • Consider complementing traditional investments
  • Financial plans and portfolios are designed for this type of environment – stay the course!
